Ram
selling for us typically occurs in the last week in November when we
offer 450 rams for sale at prices of $1500, $1000, $700, and $500.
Stud singles and pairs range from $5000 to $2000, with sale
arrangements for these rams to be concluded before October 15 each
year. Prices are arrived at by analysing all the relevant physical
characteristics of the rams, along with all the available in-flock
comparative data. Client loyalty is rewarded with a picking order,
however, with negotiation we are prepared to accommodate the
majority of new buyers’ needs, should they be specific and
realistically achievable. With the trend to cross breeding, we allow
loyal buyers one years’ grace to source other rams, while still
retaining their place in our picking order. New buyers should also
be aware that in the last 5 years, the index for our 300th (700
Animalplan pts.) ranked ram has improved more than 50%, so there is
quality on offer at all levels.
The
450 rams offered for sale are the remains of approximately 1100
recorded ram lambs. More than 98% of rams offered for sale are twins
or triplets with 50% coming from dams that have only reared
multiples. The ratio of starting ram lambs born to sale rams
offered, at 1100 to 400, ensures a high standard with SIL production
indexes(DPP) ranging from a minimum of 800 up to 2200, using
standard economic relativities.
All
rams are vet checked and brucella ovis accredited. Full pedigree and
production records are available on the spot at selling time, with
all information supplied and tailored to buyer requirements. This
information is a combination of objectively measured and computer
analysed data from Animalplan/SIL, along with the subjective
judgment of experienced independent professionals on wool and
carcass. Buyers are encouraged and invited to thoroughly scrutinise
all aspects of our operation with genuine enquiries most welcome.
